Tai Chi & Qigong Exercises
Are you looking for safe, effective exercises for people of all ages that lead to better health and well being?
Mark is pleased to offer both Qigong and Tai Chi instruction in a “one-on-one” environment as well as in a small group setting with class sizes designed to fit your individual comfort level. No prior experience is necessary: we require only the willingness to learn, a desire to be healthy, and an open heart.
The services we offer are deeply rooted in the Chinese medical tradition of qigong. “Medical” qigong is based on training and regulating the body, mind, and breath with a number of quieting methods and breath energy exercise and should not to be confused with any formal western medical practices.
Qigong Therapy
Chinese medicine has a very rich history that spans several thousand years of continuous clinical use. The four major branches of Chinese medicine are acupuncture, herbology, qigong, and tuina. Each discipline offers a different access to balance and integrates your spirit, mind, and body.
The underlying theory of Chinese medicine is that all beings and things in the Universe have Qi (energy). When Qi is abundant and flows freely, a natural state of balance and health prevails. When Qi becomes excessive, deficient or blocked, an energetic pattern is created that may lead to physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual problems. Imbalances may occur as a result of strong or sustained emotions, negative thought patterns, stress, physical trauma, poor diet, environmental factors, or unhealthy lifestyle choices. The primary goal of Chinese medicine is to locate and correct imbalances in the circulation of Qi and lead back to the natural state of good health.
Western medicine, although greatly advanced in the last century, is concerned mainly with defining disease categories or causes of disease, and then trying to change, control, or eliminates the cause. Western physicians start with a symptom and then search for the underlying specific root cause for that particular problem. He does not look at the body as a whole system.
Qigong therapy is one of the oldest and most widely used form of Chinese medicine. Private healing sessions from Mark are available by appointment. Because healing is an internal process, it requires your full attention and involvement. For this reason, qigong meditation or exercises are taught as a personal means for you to achieve and maintain your wellness goals.
